    Poem Commentary

    A little comic relief.

    Your Mailbox Is Empty

This simple message sends chills up one’s spine

If displayed too abruptly it can evoke a loud mournful whine

No email?  My God how can that possibly be?

Am I forgotten so easily as if some form of debris?

Where are my friends, my soul mates from afar?

To be forgotten so easily could leave a terrible scar

Ah, the computer is at fault, a technical glitz

I’ll reboot and recover. This nerd never quits

I wait for my desktop to magically appear

In great anticipation and a modicum of fear

I click on the icon and the program says loading

The wait is excruciating and somewhat foreboding

At long last my email screen suddenly appears

The email light is blinking. Enough to bring me to tears

Alas, I am whole again, a precious friend has come through

I forge ahead without worry and without further ado

I click on my precious jewel to read its first line

As if consuming and relishing an expensive French wine

But to my disappointment only a large graphic appears

Labeled Sale, big discounts this weekend at Sears.

HA ha hampton. As if with baited breath we wait to be contacted, communicated with, as if held hostage, eyes staring at a machine that curbs lonliness. I love your wit and candor. ginga

Sometimes we just have to write about the things in our lives that show how mesmorized we can become with too much attention. Thanks for reading and the nice comment.

I read several of your poems. Your skill really shines through in each of them, and they all seem so different from the next. I love this one though, it brought me a smile and laugh. I very much enjoyed it.

Thanks. It was meant to be enjoyed and I am happy you liked it.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
