    Your mountain

A star in the sky, a flower in bloom,
your shine fills the world, for me, there is no room.
For you I stumbled through darkness, found horrors untold,
fell into your arms, your touch was so cold.

Looking in your eyes, it's there I slept,
your harsh words are chains, these shackles I accept.
I'm a moth, your the sun, I'm drawn to your light,
that look sent a flare, singed my wings, killed my flight.

Falling to the earth, landing upon the stone,
to die with all the others you found, and left alone.
Littering the land with an innocent breed,
to fertilize your garden, with the love they bleed.

Is this how it is, true love and hope,
to make room for others, and see if they can cope?
Watching the star fade, and the flower wilt,
slipping away on top of this mountain you've built.

I have struggled for years to express my feelings about a past relationship, and you executed it beautifully. I think I've reread this 10 times already and it is so exhilarating to see my own emotions expressed so eloquently. Amazing job!!!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
