    A Child's Light

    He's speaking
    But not with his mouth.
He's using his mind to communicate with the world.
I look at him and see, life unknown to us
    But,
    There it is
Civilization as we know it is gone.
    The grass is greener,
    The air is fresher,
    The people are friendlier.
I see in this child a world full of love and peace,
    Hope and prosperity.
I see in this child the future
The future of the black man
    I see in this child
    LIFE.

Luvangel definitely post more poems. There is so much doom and gloom in the world and this poem is full of hope. everyone on this site is very supportive. This was well written smooth flowing and a good sense of meter.

You captured how I felt the first time I looked at my son. I got goosebumps when the poem triggered the memory of his brown eyes shining up at me in that San Antonio airport terminal. He was only eight weeks old, but that's what I saw. Hope and prosperity, the future of the black man, life. Excellent!!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
