An Uphill Battle

Poem Commentary

This is about a family in crisis. God is the only answer.

An Uphill Battle

The sun is shining
so why does it seem so dark?
Everything seems crystal clear,
so why did we need our glasses?

It's so hard to understand now,
We know this temporary darkness
will soon give way to the light some how,
It's the waiting that is so difficult.

I pray to Jesus,
Come save us quick!
The callouses on our knees
have grown deep and thick.

We know what we gotta do,
But sometimes we need a swift kick
just to make us see,
and to help us get through.

It's always been an uphill battle,
We know gotta make it through,
We gotta keep our eyes forward,
Gotta keep on climbing, walking crawling,

We gotta look through the all the pretty lies
the truth is out there somewhere.
We're going to find it someday,
Gotta keep on trying  no matter if we keep falling,

It is not about what is even,
Not even about what is fair,
It's about sweet salvation
and this is one battle, we just have to win.
