    Archangel

O me but a mortal bespelled,
    in purgatory dwelled.
    An ardent lover’s kiss.

    Thine battered heart found,
Thine soul a new prison bound.
    Pain holds no bliss.

Thou gently tamed the bitter tear,
    Love lost resided here
I long for thou tender embrace

    thy satin ties that bind,
    so easily unwind
    rescued from heaven's disgrace.

    Archangel slayer of foolish pride,
    found the tenderness hidden inside.
    thou holds the key,

So ardent lover I bid thee,
Hold fast thine bruised heart gently
    thou hast set me free

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
