As Earth Cried Out

As Earth Cried Out

Invoked from a dead sleep; Succumb to a conscious state.
Rain crashes, splashes, in a pitter-pattern, on the sheet metal above my head.
As infinite drops reign down, somehow I sense a drought.
So I close my eyes once again, then begin to journey inward.

All is calm on this sole front; empathetically I know this is not the worry brought forth.

Suddenly, serendipity:
This lonely orb set aside from the rest,
Special enough to house the one race wise enough to know it exists.
A gift… And nothing more…
Yet we torture it with man’s destructive force.
Apathetically man devastates forestry, depleting natural resources epidemically
Sucking its blood dry because “Oil fuels our economy!”

I then hear the cries of a million souls before me,
Who gave everything they knew to better our existence.
Asking just for attention & for someone to listen, saying:
Entropy is inevitable, it was just never meant to be this way!

Does man know no limit? Has greed infested the minds of everyone within it?
Earth cries to you all, weeping as its balance falls.

Climates change, as time decays we’re left with the waste
And no hope to replace what’s lost to the onslaught.

Help stop it now as Earth cries out,
Before this drought of compassion, leads us all to ruins.

Quietly listen & you can find, we need you all, in order to survive.
Spread the word, it’s time we’re heard and save what’s left of this precious gift.

Before Earth withers & expires.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
