    Ashes And Dust (Remembering 9/11)

    ashes everywhere

their faces are ashen with terror
they have even forgotten to cry--some of them--
the ones who remember abandon it for later.
    for now
    all they know is terror

and disbelief as thick ashes swoop down from the towers
    and cover the world

    from a distance
a wise old man strokes his beard proud

    ashes everywhere
the world is covered in dust
mayhem is unleashed and its not even may yet

    terrors are dropped overhead
and the old man flees into the mountains lost
as everywhere the remains are buried
    ashes to ashes
    dust to dust

Very beautiful. I love it. Keep up the good work!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
