    Guthrie

    He's taught me much
    and he's taught me well
    He's taught me about music
    And helped me excel

    We've had some hard times
    but we got through them
    together that is
not just me, not just him

    We had fun in band
    Playing our music nonstop
Of course he knows he the man
    Up on his podium

    There is only one person
    This could be
    It's the one and only
    Mr. Guthrie

May I add a few words, just for thought
    He told me that life
Will have its downs, but also ups
    And that's why I fought.

Your words express much admiration for a mentor. I feel sure that he will be honored by it. As far as the music goes he has given you a friend for life.

Your writing is good hun, some will tell you that you need to change things or do things different but remember if it comes from your heart then the poem is truly yours.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
