    Black Lilly

As I stroll the courtyard with my mother
Tea rose fragrant as none other
    Blue, red, Yellow, Rose
when something strange betrade my nose
    Lavender and rosemary putrified
As signs of death entertained minds eye
among the beauty that god provides
I fear one of his creatures has found demise
Her blue eyes narrow and peer deep into the bush
I know that smell and gave the bleeding heart a push
As she reached down I heard her old bones creak
I began to tremble and my legs felt weak
I could only imagine what horrors might rise
And wondered what creature had met there demise
when up she came and down it went
A thing of wonder on wet cement
I had to stop and choke back my grief
for what lay before me is disbelief
Purple bloom and steimen of yellow
the overwhelming fragrance of a long dead fellow
She cursed and spit upon the flower
Not in my garden nor in my tower
To gaze upon this perfect bloom
I think to ask is there not room
for things different from others that be
    She simply said no
    Black Lilly
