Breach

Why do you pretend to know me

Why do you pretend to care

I feel the way your heart drifts

With every passing stare

Would you even notice

Would you even see

I’m drowning in my sorrows

They’re deeper than they seem

Well, I risked my safe haven

I even bet my soul

But, the only words you say to me

Dig a deeper hole

I wanted to be better

I wanted it for you

Now I can’t find the reason

To see the changes through

Your touch it cuts like steel

Your kisses scrape my skin

You embrace me like a viper

Your eyes they burn with sin

Why can’t I just escape here

Why can’t I find a way

You’ve locked me up inside myself

I am your docile prey

This poem knocked me out because I am going through something so similar. It is scary how well you conveyed your thoughts and they match mine. Excellent job!!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
