    Can I Touch Your Love?

Can I come inside your mind today
And see what's really going on?
Will you open up your heart for me,
Let me touch your love before it's gone?
    I've felt it growing colder,
    I've wathched it fade away.
    While we've lived separate fantasies
And played games no one should play.
I know you're making future plans
In which I have no part.
    And I'm pretending nothing's wrong,
    Just whistling in the dark.
But, I think we might be ready now
To face the truth at last.
    To see the future honestly
and quit clinging to the past.

What we've shared was based on many things
    But never on the truth.
    we've been chasing moonbeams
And ideals of long lost youth.
Now our fairy tale world is ending
As reality pounds at the door.
It's here to shatter all our dreams
And to total up the score.
    The winner and the loser
Will both come out the same.
    Battle scarred and lonely
Wondering why they played the game.
So, before we give in and say good-bye,
Let's share just one last dream.
Take my hand and hold on tight.
Tonight we'll catch the same moonbeam.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
