    Chasing Serenity

Bullets are flying back and forth in between
Opposing sides, guerilla lines, different ideologies
Missiles whirring like metal birds in the air
All for what? All for ‘peace’?

    How did we get here?
The whole world is trapped in a no man’s land
Wielding swords, wielding hate instead of stretching hands
We’re up to our ankles in the blood of yesterday

Drowning in the heavy tides of all of our mistakes
Bullets are flying back and forth in between
Cutting deeper into the hearts of humanity
When all that’s through, who will still stand in victory?

    We need some peace
    We seek some serenity

Don’t pull the pin on that grenade
Ashes, oil, sweat will taint your angel face
Raise your fist with a new kind of gun
With a flower, with a song, with a heart to make us one

Screams are soaring back and forth all around
Filling children’s minds with hate –
    We’re mass-producing thorny crowns
Placing them on all of our enemies

Since the dawn of time mankind has fought for what he wants to be his
Doesn’t care who will die, who will cry, only if he’ll live
Screams are soaring back and forth all around
We’ve got to, coexist, relinquish to find some common ground

    We need some peace
    We, seek some serenity

Don’t pull the pin on that grenade
Ashes, oil, sweat will taint your angel face
Raise your fist with a new kind of gun
With a flower, with a song, with a heart to make us one

Don’t pull the trigger on that switch
I don’t know if there’s a God but if he does exist
I’m sure he’d say that to murder for a belief
    Isn’t hope
    Isn’t faith
    Isn’t religiosity

Don’t pull the pin on that grenade
Ashes, oil, sweat will taint your angel face
Raise your fist with a new kind of gun
With a flower, with a song, with a heart to make us one

    [We need some peace]
    We need serenity
    [We need to release]
    To find serenity
    [We are seeking peace]
    Chasing serenity

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
