    Christmas Eve "2006"

    Staying Up Late,
    Waiting For A Call.
When I Hear A Knock On My Bedroom Door.
My Mother Runs In And Says,
    "Guess Whose Here!?"
I Run Downstairs To See Who It Is.
    There Stands My Man,
    Holding A Wrapped Gift.
    We Hug And Kiss,
I Grab His Hand And Lead Him To The Livingroom.
Holding Each Other We Exchange Boxes.
    With Tears In My Eyes,
    I Open My Present.
All I Can See Is A....
    Dimond Cross Necklace!!
    I Begin To Cry,
    We Hugged And Kissed.
    On That Night,
    That Christmas Eve Night.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
