Poem Commentary

Part 1 of the series

Circles (I)

In the morning in the sky
Another reason to cry
From the unadulterated eye
I
Sense the mist and the fog
Through the undercurrent of sunlight is another bog
Monday morning in the wake of mourning
After the tragedies of yesterday can't face the pain of tomorrow
The sorrow
Circles of life and grief
Slink into your mind like a thief
And you bare it through gritted teeth
What would Jesus do? if only he was you

it does seem like life is a drag - day after day - nice

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
