    DAD

As a kid, he is such a big man
Only appreciated as much as a kid can
He is the one that kept us warm and fed
And made us feel safe, tucked in our beds.

As kids become teenagers the fun begins
I was always right, he just couldn’t win.
At that time I thought I knew it all
And he just stood back, and let me fall.

As time passed, the relationship grew
I began to realize, how much he really knew.
Now I realize how blessed I have been
My entire life, for the dad I was given.

Now as an adult, not a day goes by
That I don’t appreciate this special guy
He is now and always has been
My friend, my dad, my hero to the end.

Again, kudos to you! Very well writen.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
