David's Poem

I found out about you, you were growing inside
I was full of such joy that I just couldn't hide
I was excited to see just what you would be
Would you look like him, would you look like me?
I prepared all the things I thought you would need
The blankets, the bottles, some clothing with beads
But then something happened, something went wrong
They said there was no heartbeat, they said you were gone
God decided he needed you, I don't know why
It was your time to go, it was your time to die
He needed an angel with him up above
I was filled with such heartache, I was filled with such love
I will see you again, be with you some day
Be with you in heaven, be with you to stay
One day we'll be together, be together as one
My baby, my angel, my child, my son

Both of your poems touch the heart. If you can continue to evoke such heartfelt honesty about matters beyond David's tragic death, you may find solace & perhaps even acclaim in writing. Blessings!!

A beautiful tribute to your son, I also lost a child but much later in life, I agree with unworthy father's comment that you write for yourself but I also think that those that criticize, really just don't "get" where you are coming from, especially where a loss is concerned, how can they unless it has happened to them, I find that I am very offended if someone criticizes any of my work that is written in memory of my daughter because all of it is from my heart and in her honor and that they are attacking "her" and you know how us Moms are about our babies, no matter the age...if you ever need someone to talk to, write me, your poem is an incredibly touching, sweet, lovely, beautiful piece that is written with passion and pain and touches all our hearts, God Bless to you...

not bad for a first write but remember poetry is an outlet. The reader isn't important. The reader has his own issues. Keep writing.

I think this is truly beautiful. You brought tears to my eyes, and a smile to my heart. Thank you. Don't worry about what other people say about your poetry. There will be some that will like it, and some that will not. The secret is whether it holds something special to you. Yours is the only voice that matters, so if you enjoy writing poetry, write on. There will always be an attentive ear, and an open heart with me. Thank you for sharing. Your friend, Marcus Lewis (UnworthyFather)

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
