    Destiny

In the dome of the great cathedral
So dark and misty with fright
She lay there on the marbled ground
    A thousand candles lit bright
As she lay there, all alone
She cried with all her might
For she knew she would take her last breath
It was the last that her eyes would sight
And as she lay there still and calm
She saw the blood drip from her palm
She felt her heart grow heavy with fear
Her eye let out a single tear
That little girl so innocent and pure
And now this anguish she must endure
For now she would pay the ultimate price
It was she whom would be sacrificed
In the dome of God's Holy Church
She tasted her blood her fingers searched
She felt a man pick her up with one arm
And place her on the altar with much grace and charm
She looked up at the man whom was her master and lord
He held above her the sacred sword
"Soon it will be over" he said
    "You shall feel no pain"
"And then a new life you shall regain"
She clolsed her eyes, and then she wept
Those sacred vows in her heart she kept
She knew that this she would soon regret
Then she felt the sword cut through her chest
She felt her heart burn with fire
Her death was the only man's desire
Then she opened her eyes and she felt no bother
She looked up and saw her heavenly father
She passed away that cold lonely night
But she felt no pain nor agony or fright
There she lay, peacefully on the ground
With the thousand candles burning all around

This poem is exceptionally powerful; candles like angels and fire like wisdom with the passing of old to new. This write is another one of those that put a spin on my own perceptions. As for myself I aint ready to go yet, but when I do I hope it's painless and frightless. lol Good write poet even the angels have to give a standing ovation to this one.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.
