    detour

Blank stares at a blank screen

This generation makes me wanna scream

    Tryin’ to unplug this life

Backdrop your wallpaper back to reality

    can you hear me

    past the voicemails

    past the emails

    past the texts

    and the messengers

    what about the pages

    all elated, so overrated

    man I hate this

    I just wanna see

Life for what it should be

How bout love, could it be our drug

Or will you stay with all the rest

    Putting weed under your desk

Where are we goin , a technology detour

    Circling the worst

Until we realize what we’ve hurt

    Get connected with the earth

Dig your feet into the dirt

    Plug into the sand

Go and shake a stranger’s hand

    Before the world ends

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
