    Empty

How easy it must be for you to judge and stare,
As you watch me numb the pain, remember you weren't there.
You didn't see the look in her eyes,
As she told me she loved me, knowing it was nothing but lies.
She knew it was only a matter of time before she walked away,
There was nothing I could do that would make her stay.
I guess I wasn't crazy enough and she was just too wild,
She knew when we said our vows that I was simple, laid back, and mild.
Hoping that I can eventually go on with life full throttle,
Yet, pouring out my soul into a now empty bottle.
The memories of how it used to be flood my mind,
I knock out another round to leave it behind.
I know it's not the answer, but what else can I do?
Tell me friend, has it ever been done to you?
I never saw it coming; I knew marriage was risky,
When it all fell apart, I fell into an ocean of sorrows and whiskey.
It goes down smooth and warm,
Praying that its a way out of this storm.
A storm that is so savage and wild,
I wish for someone to care for me as they would a child.
Now so lost in this world, I come back time and time again,
Only to partake in yesterday's sin.
Wondering if there is someone else for me that will stick,
Meanwhile I build a wall around my heart with pure brick.
If she ever sees me and thinks that I wear a frown,
She should know it's not the old me; that's the new me missing the person that she drowned.
