    End Of A Friendship

    I am standing...looking...staring
    Standing...looking...staring
    At the coffin.

Beautiful yellow and red flowers cut from life
    Surround it,
Dying flowers given to the dead.

All I wanted was a hug, a kind word.
A question that was not really a question...
    A soft word of advice:
    "What do you think?"

    Instead...
    These soft words became hard
    And something went wrong,
    Teriibly, terribly wrong:
The words...the fighting...and finaly the death.

    Hope in the hopeless,
    Something never to come.

Standing here staring at your coffin,
I wonder if I really saw you,
    saw you at all?

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
