    Final Chapter

When I've reached the final chapter; and my life on earth is through.
Then I'll be off to collect those Angel wings, you've heard mentioned a time or two.
You realize I have to earn them; nothing in this life is free.
And even when I get there, I'm sure there will be a test or two for me.

I've always tried to do my best, be a friend to everyone.
I've been teased about this Angel stuff, but I know it's all in fun.
One day I'll be looking down, on the friends that I once knew.
I hope that I've earned your respect, and been a friend to you.

I also pray for World Peace, for a chance to prove ones worth.
I also hope before it's too late, we learn to protect Mother Earth.
I hope that we learn to love each other, regardless of the color of ones skin.
I hope that we can open up our hearts, and one day, let God back in.

I hope that we learn to forgive, to love unconditionally.
To always strive, to be the best that we can be.
As I write the final chapter in this book that we call life.
I'm thankful for my friends and family, and especially for my wife.

I put down this pen and paper and I bow my head in prayer.
Through my trials and tribulations, God was always there.
This is the final chapter, when you read this please don't cry.
Just know that I'll be with my heavenly father, in his home up in the sky.

I am in good health, hoping I have many years to live.
Thanks to everyone for your friendship.
Too my wife and family, kids and grandkids, I love you more than mere words can express.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
