    Footsteps

    If you go
    I will follow your footsteps
like shadows on a moonlit night.

    And if you stop
    I will stay with you
and your heart will stay safe in my heart.

    And if you cry
    I will hold your tears
and your despair will be my own.

    And if you leave
    I will leave
as the sun rises over the mountains.

And you will never be that lost little boy
Because in your hands will be my own.

    Great poem!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
