    For The Glory Of Love

    For The Glory Of Love

    I'll give the world
just to hold you close to me.
For the glory of love, I'll die
    in your honor.
In my arms, I'll take you
    across the universe.
I will not need wings to fly,
neither would I need the sun
    to brighten my days.
You are my queen, great majesty,
the light that shines my armor.
If only you could read my mind.
The pages of my heart will surely
reveal, a love most pure and true.
Each night, I wish you were here
    to share my lonely dreams.
But if you were, I would not of been,
    as lonely as tonight.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
