It takes only what it offers

There's a storm coming,
time to prepare.

RE: Picture Poetry anyone?

Your piece is full of LIFE: of all that is in life is in this challenge of an ascent. I see you covered the aspects from the innermost to the outer limits--- only one thing if changed would bring closer to perfection: the entire poem is in a subjective perspective then jumps to objective in last line; possibley 'I' should still be the voice.

This is a picture of a rock formation near a lake in Burma . The photo can only be taken on a specific day once a year when the sun rays touch the rocks at a certain angle.

Beauty seeks thine UN-captive soul

A soul that exists in realms darkness
Gracious beauty leaves them with blindness
Sees only the rocks
A gift darkness blocks
Keep ones soul UN-captive by darkness

Life's beauty shall reward grateful eyes
Pity those blindfolded by dark minds
Dark holds beauty captive
Eyes unreceptive
Once a year nature kindly reminds

Spirits that seek out life's elegance
Natures gift be thine eyes rich wages
The rocky shore line,
Beyond, into time
The reflection of man's temperance

A soul existing in darks coven
Peace and joy sensations left craving
Natures miracle
Indescribable
Such are rare joys in natures haven

A beauty seen only once a year
Souls of love finds natures gift un-smeared
Spirit, soul of light
Natures gift of sight
The chosen soul finds beauty so clear

Let peace and joy surround your spirit
Let not darkness leave you such demerit
A rocky shoreline
A gift to define
Natures miracles living spirit

Very good suggestion, and good eye as well. I changed it, what do ya think?

RE: Picture Poetry anyone? RE Baby Toes

A Child Is Born

So rare a gift bestowed
To hold the future in your hands
Your legacy in life
Your values to unfold...
A chance to make and mold
The person you were naught
Make perfect the mistakes
Live dreams you often sought
Make reality the vision
That never came to be...
You hold within your hands
A challenge none can equal
The actress in the leading role
The star in your life's sequel
The future’s in your hands
The world’s waiting for your plans.

When the two of us went walking
Out by the old highway?

That car came off the shoulder
And passed me on the right
Then took my lovely Melinda
Away from me that night

Now I’m left here all alone
To sit and grieve and sigh
So once again I ask you, Lord
This simple question, “Why?”

RE: Picture Poetry anyone?

We always were so worried
About which one of us passed first
Neither wanting to be alone
Knowing last would be the worst

For some uncanny reason
God saved us from that strife
He let us die as meant to be
As husband with his wife

Lying in each others' arms
Neither one of us distraught
We faced our death together
“Thank You” our last thought

RE: Picture Poetry anyone?

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
