Goodbye

Goodbye

Coming to terms with this,
Has been so hard on me.
Dealing with the loss,
Left with what is meant to be,
It  seems so unfair,
That we lose everything,
All I've got left,
Are my memories and wedding ring.
How do I say goodbye?
This I do not know,
How do I tell the kids,
That it was your time to go?
I wish I'd laid beside you,
When they put you in the ground,
It hurts so much being here,
Without you around,
I will always love you.
Forever, just as I said,
The kids will pray to you,
As I tuck them into bed.
"Where's daddy?" is what they ask,
Please give me the courage,
to complete this difficult task.
I miss you so much,
That words can never begin,
But, I'll be here waiting,
Till I am with you again.

This was a wonderful poem. I read it before I read your biography so I thought you had lost your husband. Glad to read you are not a widow. The point is that it was so gut wrenching and emotional that you convinced me. Excellent

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
