It wasn't quite so long ago
I felt it with a friend.
I felt it when she smiled at me,
I hoped it'd never end.

It's there when I wake up each day,
And when I'm having fun.
And when my Mom hugs me and says,
"I'm her only one!"

It's there when it is Christmas Eve,
The tree with lights so bright.
I feel the joy within my heart
On the momentous night.

On birthdays, Easter, Halloween,
We feel it all around.
And, then at nighttime, there it is!
In stars that can be found.

It is the greatest feeling yet,
That each of us can hold.
Make sure of it, and let it soar,
It's worth its weight in gold.

So, when times are hard or I feel sad,
And need a brand new start.
I reach inside, and smile, and say,
"I've got a happy heart!"
