Hard to Like
You came to me a throw away kid
A 6 year-old that no one wanted.
Parents in jail,
only a drunken grandmother
To take you in.
You were into all kinds of mischief,
Committing all kinds of sin.
You were so hard to like.
Dirty clothes, rotten teeth,
shaved head to keep off the lice.
You used foul language, flipped me off
You got into all kinds of fights.
You were so hard to like.
I looked into your eyes and I saw
Only a scared little boy.
A boy who had only known cruelty and sorrow
One who never knew joy.
You were so hard to like.
I brought you cupcakes on your birthday
And I gave you new shoes.
I hugged you and told you that you were special.
One day you said you loved me too.
Then the day came and
they took you away
To a foster home
Where you didn’t want to go.
So you found the Drano
under the sink
and the ambulance was too slow.
I hope they love you in heaven
as much as I do
Because you are so hard to like.
A 6 year-old that no one wanted.
Parents in jail,
only a drunken grandmother
To take you in.
You were into all kinds of mischief,
Committing all kinds of sin.
You were so hard to like.
Dirty clothes, rotten teeth,
shaved head to keep off the lice.
You used foul language, flipped me off
You got into all kinds of fights.
You were so hard to like.
I looked into your eyes and I saw
Only a scared little boy.
A boy who had only known cruelty and sorrow
One who never knew joy.
You were so hard to like.
I brought you cupcakes on your birthday
And I gave you new shoes.
I hugged you and told you that you were special.
One day you said you loved me too.
Then the day came and
they took you away
To a foster home
Where you didn’t want to go.
So you found the Drano
under the sink
and the ambulance was too slow.
I hope they love you in heaven
as much as I do
Because you are so hard to like.
