    Heart In Hand

I put my heart in my hand
and held it out to you.
    You took it and me
    and together we flew
through the sky and over the clouds,
and for a moment I believed dreams could come true.
I told you I loved you
    then you turned away.
The sky turned dark and my world crashed down.
I held out my my hand and you returned my heart,
a bloody, broken mess to fall at my feet.
