I see You, Beloved

Poem Commentary

I woke up before dawn as I usually do the other day, inspired to write a love poem to the Beloved.  Every morning I try to remember to make the first words out of my mouth ones of gratitude to Him.  This poem was actually was inspired by the men who came to take away our garbage that morning.  In my healing work, sometimes I feel like I am a spiritual sanitation worker -- I take people's pain away and they never even think about it.

I see You, Beloved

I see You, Beloved

I awaken to Your gentle Light~
Warm yet gray, another "soft" day.
"Beloved, I thank you for the blessed sight~
Of this ever awesome dawn," in pain, I pray.

Amazing Love, so faithful and so humble~
And yet so filled with terrifying power.
In this still pre-dawn, I hear a soft rumble,
Unknown, unseen, our burdens borne this hour.

So easily forgotten, dismissed in disdain,
In our ignorance of Who you really are,
We never even notice what we gain,
In the silent glance, the working of a passing, falling star.

Even in the one with darkened eyes,
Lost in the lie, no joy upon Your face,
You wait for us, on wings to rise,
And know, in Love, Your omnipresent Grace.
