Ideally

At a young age I realized
that our power is within our mind
and more can be accomplished
when our temperament is kind.

Always difficult to understand
is why some have a need to control
where cooperation can accomplish more
in working toward a common goal.

Even in a relationship
I’ve never felt that one should lead and one should follow.
Ideally, I imagine a growing bond
that compliments areas which sometimes seem hollow.

I see no need to control another spirit
nor will I relinquish any control of mine.
I see the power thing as insecurity
and certain women are so inclined.

It’s admirable to have a will that is strong,
to be intelligent and easy on the eyes,
but when it’s mixed with “my way or no way,”
to me, that just doesn’t fly.

Feeling passionate and peaceful together
while inspiring each other to grow
are attributes that must exist,
are moments that I’d like to know.
