In All Her Majesty

She is a sweet angel of passing beauty. My eyes do gaze upon her. My heart is lost within her presence. Words cannot define the majesty before me. Her words are like a soft spoken breeze. Steady are my hands as I stand in her presence.

Her eyes are unlike anything ever seen by mortal men. She is a queen to rule over my heart. Save my soul from torment. As the sun will shine so does this captured heart of mine. I wish only to stand by your side, angel of my life. My heart is yours forever and ever always.

A rose cannot match your beauty. Neither would the stars in the sky. I would write with stars just to see you smile. I would count the sand of sea just to be by your side. I would that the world crumbles beneath my feet. To know my heart is free. With you I am truly complete.

My heart beats for you. The silence of the night is yours. I know that you are here. Distance may keep us apart. My heart is near. I promise to walk in the dark with you by my side. Through it all we should not fear. In the end we will stand together. I will love you forever and ever my darling. I will hold you until the sky is clear.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
