Indigo's Child

Indigo's Child

I come from highlands of time before;

in winds that howl you hear me roar.

In fires of passion where I hatched,

in flames I burn with strength unmatched.

Curves and sinew and lustful grace

with indigo bursts upon my face,

I'm darkness among the stars of night

and radiant spectrum of the light.

You see me not, nor what's at stake;

life to give or life to take.

I walk with power by my side

companion of the ether tide.

Young and raw not yet refined,

journey still and often blind,

the yearning of this freedom quest

has taught me now to leave the nest.

Further down in dark despair,

this hell consumes and leaves me bare.

Not fettered with the yoke of shame,

I rise above the chains of blame.

I am what is and always was

and who I'll be is more because

no excuse and no restraint

there is no veil of life to taint.

I am Indigo's child.

Of course I like my own poems. This one is about the dragon within me.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
