    IT STARTS WITH YOU

When calamity raises its evil hand
When war and destruction invade our land
    When good goes undone
    And lies become true
    Its time for real change
There’s so much you can do
Focus on humanity; it starts with you

When good health care is a shattered dream
When promised development is yet to be seen
    When poverty prowls
Like a thief in the night
    And hunger bombards us
    With all of its might
Focus on humanity; it starts with you

Illiteracy rate has yet to decrease
If fact should be known as a ‘common disease’
    Global primary education
    A hope against hope?
    With babies having babies
    And youths addicted to dope?
Focus on humanity; it starts with you

Promote gender equality; empow’r our women
Reduce child mortality; protect our children
    Safeguard the environment
    Combat all diseases
    Attainable targets
    The fight never ceases
Focus on humanity; it starts with you

Very well written. It makes you stop and think. That's the goal, isn't it? Great job. TS

It speaks from the heart of the problems that Africa and, the world in general, are facing.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
