Poem Commentary

This is just a reflection on my incarceration for traffic tickets. Prolly not the most eloquent poem, but heartfelt nonetheless.

Jailhouse blues

Spent a month in Jefferson County jail for frickin' traffic tickets
It was by far the most humiliating thing that's ever happened to me
Never before been in such sticky wickets
I sure wished no one, my arrest and incarceration, had had to see
Never been arrested, strip searched, or even been jail
After a few weeks there in jail, I began to think my release would never be
Never had endure no phone calls, absolute boredom and not getting mail
Honestly began to question whether I would ever again be free
The morning I finally went to court (January 19, 2010) was such a shock
God had listened to my heart, seen my tears, and heard my plea
