    Just Another Day

    “Just Another Day”

On certain days I hear you say “ I love you & want you for my wife”
Yet the work that’s required to make this love last…is something you always forsake…Day after day I keep quiet, just to keep peace in the air
for I know your words are seldom true and that you do not care…

Empty.. shallow and hollow are the words I hear you speak
Just another stream of lies falling quickly to your feet…
I try to look so deeply into your cold & brooding eyes
just to see if there’s any life there but alas our love has died…

Another victim of neglect, tossed onto the growing pile of broken hearts
Empty promises’ sealing their fate, time marches on it’s getting so late…
It’s just another day in each of our lives…time to start over no time to cry
One more day I hear myself say, time marches on…
    With freedom leading the way

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
