    Just Another Face

I watch you from across the room
    A distance much too far
    Trying like a little child
    To reach a distant star
Your eyes can see through anything
    Especially through me
With them you look into my soul
    And read my fantasy
One touch could make flowers bloom
And shine a brand new light
I wish the time I spend with you
Would last more than “just one night”
I hope someday your precious lips
    would contact only mine
And then the rain would go away
So that the sun could shine
I hate to see you this way
    It hurts me deep inside
I know you know just how I feel
    Though it’s what I hide
    You’re so polite to everyone
    That’s really what I need
You make your friends so proud
But am I just another face
     Within a busy crowd
Should I call to talk to you
And continue to make myself more known?
Or do I just give up the fight
    And leave you well alone?
Throughout your life, friends come and they go
    With things you will regret
You’re with the ones I love the most
    And never will forget!!!

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
