Learning To Love Me

Learning To Love Me
Category: Writing and Poetry

When I was born you fed me , you loved me, you held me, you clothed me and let me know that everything was gonna be alright. When I became a young girl I began to explore on my own, thinking that the love from you that I had was smothering me and keeping me from the unknown. I thought that I wasn't beautiful enough so I began to put makeup on and add more hair to my head, wear revealing clothes to draw the other kind of attention. Not realizing that the love you were giving me was all that I needed. Not to mention after a few break up's to make up and heartbreak hotel's, now I'm into adulthood and I'm so messed up on the inside that I don't know who to trust or even how to love or how to love myself. What is love? Some say sex, money or a man but I've come to know that the only real love is you lord. You know how to hold me and love me and speak those sweet somethings in my ear that will have my hair standing on top of my head for years. You'll never leave me or forsake me and because of the love you have shown me I can finally be free to learn how to love me. Free to be comfortable in my own skin no matter what my color or size I know longer have to wear a disquise. Free to know that I can accomplish the impossible because God gave me a mind that is one of a kind and I am unstoppable. Free to share who I am because my experiences will provoke you to make a plan to take a stand to say more then I think I can but I will. I will stand still and know that you are god. I will walk by faith and not by sight. I will trust in the lord with all of my heart and lean not to my own understanding. I can, I will, I must know what it is to be free to love me.

This is excellant and the fact you find God as your savior and not the world is a real clincher. Kudos to you for this revealing and thoughtful and honest write.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
