    Look Around

When I woke up this morning, I didn't know
Just how blessed I was, I was so low.
But as I got my kids ready, I heard a small voice
"Look around you, my child, you should rejoice."

    Look around, look around
    What do you see?
I see happy kids and a home to sleep.
I see someone to hold your hand
I see someone to play in the sand.
I see someone for you to love
And I see someone loves you above.

As the day went on, I kept hearing that voice
"Look around you, my child, you should rejoice."
So, I looked around and what did I see?
I saw so much I fell to my knee.

When I got home that night, I fell to my face
Thank you, O Lord, for your saving grace.
And thank you Lord for showing me
All of my blessings right here with me.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
