    Lost Lives

    Everyday gets worse,
    Every passing moment of his memory.
    Of him and me together;
    The way we got along so well.
    It all disappeared in an instant when he left,
    Left the earth to join his brother up in heaven.
    Every time I get closer to the house I just want to run,
    Run away where the pain can't get me.
    Hide myself away from the world.
    Every single face that stares,
    The ones that say they are sorry;
    For the soul that I have lost.
    The life that left the earth.
    Here I am mourning everyday of every hour,
    Crying until no more tears roll down my face.
    Thinking back on the days he was still with me
    Up until the point I found him lying there.
    So still and lifeless.
    He will be all right, I know.
    Now he is with his brother, in which he missed so
    Together again after six longing months.
    Now I feel pain for not one, but two souls.
    Buried in the ground together side by side
    Longing some day to be lying there next to them,
    Until that day I will always think of them
    They will be kept in my heart throughout the rest of my days
    Until I die and become part of the earth too.
    Then I too, will be able to go to heaven,
    Joining them once again.

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
