    Lost Love

    When I first saw you,
    My heart skipped a beat,
    The day had come,
    When first we meet.
    You said we'd get married,
    Be partners in real estate.
    Life would be wonderful,
    Life would be great!
    You must have been hurt,
    Oh so deep.
    My trust was something,
    You could not keep.
    You always thought,
    I was never true.
    But I loved you,
    Always you!
    Now you want to part,
    But your keeping my heart!
    Sometimes I wonder,
    If life will go on.
    As I lay in bed,
    Till the break of dawn.
    My heart is so broken,
    I feel so blue,
    I thought you knew me,
    But you haven't a clue!
    You're all I ever wanted,
    You're all I ever need.
    Now that doesn't matter,
As you watch my heart bleed!
    I still get excited,
    When our paths cross.
You were the one I needed,
    My one great loss!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
