    Luck Is Over Rated

    Some affix luck to a turned up horse shoe,

    Rabbit’s foot, or 4-leaf-clover,

    These same few are after that pot of gold,

    Or the rainbow to lead them over.

    The blow of the dice, a newfound penny;

    It’s all in one minds eye,

    I’m not one to ponder on fate, but act

    Upon words to live by.

    My lady and I, married of 14 years;

    She feeds my heart and soul,

    The conviction we stow between us;

    Undeniably our strength without toll.

    Just a glance from those baby blues, holds

    More significance than any gold,

    A gentle touch from her soft, warm lips,

    Spring feelings that just can’t be told.

    Her heart, abundant, her smile so sweet,

    Yet a laugh that will bring out the band,

    Her mind is keen and craves adventure,

    With love and pride, by her side I stand.

    By now you’re probably wondering on the

    Heading of my proclamation,

    Where might luck fit in to these

    Intimate vows of opinion?

    A high roller may say I’m the luckiest man

    To find such an uncut gem,

    Or, fate could not have matched a

    Better couple on a whim.

    But truth be told, I don’t condone

    To all that hype and façade,

    The two of us are together by

    The hands and grace of God.

    So, you can keep all your 4-leaf-clovers,

    Horseshoes, and rabbit’s feet,

    Our hearts will meld as one, for life,

    Because it was just meant to be.

    This is a beautiful poem, as well as a great philosophy! It sounds as though you found the one, if only everybody could be so lucky.

    This is a beautiful poem. Sounds like you have an amazing woman.

    If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
