Lying Awake in Upper Darby, PA

Outside my window, I watched the blackened skies,
Slowly darkening all my surroundings,
Rain drops falling quietly against the pane.
In the closet sit our old memories
Joyous times locked inside each one
With hopes of more to occur
In my view,
On the bed covered with blankets of silence
Unawake by the morning's dimmed light
He sleeps in his comfort zone.
I lie beside him, as time grows more distant
A tear falls down, looking for an escape.
I have wasted my love.

Interesting twist to your poetry. There is such regret in your words at the end.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
