mommy stayed and daddy left
my mother chose to stay
and daddy chose to leave
and right before he left
i begged him "daddy take me please"
he promised to come back
in time to help me pack
and here i am seventeen years later
still waiting for him to come back
he has two other sons
and a wife who looks like a nun
and now they are his pride and joy
and what we had is done
so here is my reply
daddy why'd you have to lie
and leave my mother cryin'
when she loved you enough to die
so no worries about me
'cause mama carried me
and now that i am older now
i promise not to leave
my kids will know true love
and they won't see how you're a bum
because their dad will love and love
as Christ did for my mum
