No Man at All

No Man at All

You walk into the room,
Your chest in the air,
Like you own this place,
Like you haven’t a care.
You parade yourself,
Like you’re all that and more,
Like you’re the man,
All women should adore.
You rely on your looks,
And want everyone to see,
That you are the finest,
That will ever be.
But there are women like me,
Who know who you are,
An empty vessel that treads,
From near and from far.
I know where you’ve been,
And where you’re going, you see,
Your road is to nowhere,
A dying leaf on a tree.
You think you can fool me,
with your charm and your guile,
But your words you can’t walk,
Nearly a foot, never mind a mile.
Your true colors show clearly,
You’re not the man you portray,
You’re a cheat and a liar,
A man whose hearts in decay.
For you cannot hide,
The man you really are,
A man of no integrity, no character
No dignity by far.
You are only out to find,
Another pure heart to destroy,
To make you feel better,
About your life empty of joy.
But this woman is stronger,
Though you might think otherwise,
So move on to your next victim,
Because I’ve uncovered your disguise.

love this ... easy flow on a clear topic ... and a primer for "what is" as well ... integrity ... honesty ... respect ... these make a human, whatever the gender ... thx for posting! -dh

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
