Poem Commentary

I am a birth mother who was recently reunited with my birth daughter that was placed for adoption on 11/15/78.  She was located by a Search Angel on Fathers Day 2008.

Currently working on a book entitled "The Promise".  If interested in hearing more of our incredible story please visit www.jessesmom78.com

By coming forward and going public with my book and poems, it is my hope to encourage all birth mothers to step out of the darkness and embrace who we are.

November Rain

Dedicated to my Birthdaughter, Jessica Dayle Roth
Written by Marcie Keithley-Roth Birth Mother

Our nine month journey started,
The first day that I found.
I carried you within me
My love for you abound.

I knew I couldn't keep you,
For you weren't mine to keep.
For you deserved a chance at life.
My love for you ran deep.

Each day you grew inside me,
My heart would swell with pride.
To know that you would someday be,
The light in someone's eyes.

So I will carry all the pain.
The loss is mine to bear.
My sweet, sweet child enjoy your life.
And know that I did care.

Someday you'll learn the story.
One day you'll hear the why's.
The sacrifice I made for you
Will open up your eyes.

I never will forget you.
In my heart you will remain.
The tears I cry for you this day.
Fall like November Rain.

Such a sweet sentiment. I have a good friend who adopted a baby boy 4 years ago. I also know the birth mother. It was a very good experience for both. You've captured the emotions nicely. Good luck with your birth daughter, I hope you have a good relationship from here on out.

As a recent newcomer to this site, thank you for your input. I appreciate your comments!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
