Ode To A Best Friend

Ode To A Best Friend

Whenever I needed some caring,
whenever the gray filled my skies,
you quietly offered me comfort
with love in your soulful brown eyes.

When nobody else understood me,
when nobody knew of my fears,
your dignified presence was calming
and lessened the flow of my tears.

you joyfully shared in the good times,
when storm clouds gave way to the sun;
with cheerfully eager abandon
you frolicked and had so much fun.

I'll cherish your memory always,
my love for you hasn't an end.
You'll live in my heart forever,
my wonderful dog, my friend.

I know this feeling well. Mine is my cat. She's been with us for 13 yrs. Doesn't move around as well as she used to, and don't know how much longer she'll be around. She will be missed. Good poem, TS
