Ode to beauty

Ode to beauty

To beauty, such treacherous lover,
My vows of never taking my eyes off her -
(the silent, sleeping form of

the goddess on this earth)

To beauty, such treacherous lover,

A prelude to a deadly kiss -

Whilst I watch from afar
The graceful lines of her lips.

To beauty, such treacherous lover,
I offer my words for her to use -
Like the poet forever writing
Love letters to his muse.

other than my own poetry this is the best poem I've read on this site

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
