Poem Commentary

Something for you to think about.

Ole Sweet Karma

Ole Sweet Karma

If truth be told amid a solemn confession

and you repent for the guilty dark secrets of your wicked transgressions.

Allegations may arise falsifying the merit of your heart,

generating malicious judgments to slander the image of your Christian walk.

Although a revelation of guilt may be your solitary intent,

to solicit the pardon for the sins that you willfully committed.

If remorse exists because of your boorish deeds,

go to God not man seeking forgiveness for your iniquities.

Man will condemn you with an imprudent notion.

And man’s lack of compassion will set his analysis into motion.

But God has the power to bestow the grace of His mercy

while man doesn’t have the supremacy to supersede God’s authority.

His approval of your declaration should resurrect your life

and this reunion will prove that God does forgive you for the measures of your plight.

But karma will impose the punishment for the ill will of your transgressions

and deliverance will be the result of your solemn confession.

Wow, nice! I've lost faith, though. I've been so depressed lately.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
