    ONE ROOM SCHOOL

As a child to school we’d go
Thru the heat and the cold
Many a mile did we walk
    To the one room school
    Behind a big rock…

    The teacher then would say
All take you seats and be real sweet
    Then we’d study, I recall
Until noon and that was all…

To the field she says go
Playing ball was the best of all…

Then as the evening began to fall
We’d soon hear the teacher call
    Good bye every one
For today that will be all…

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
