    Past loves

My hands and heart were intertwined,
as the candles flickered as I dined.
The years have gone by oh too fast,
my eyes cloud over remembering the past.

Too young to set roots, too possesive to set free,
we clung to our stubborness, just you and me.
The children grew older, as time passed us by,
I packed up my suitcase as I watched you cry.

"The children have grown and I don't need you no more!".
Were the last words he heard as I stomped out the door.
Ten years go by slowly when your trying to start
to put your life back together with a broken heart.

Foolish person was I not to know that day,
that his Love was true but I threw it away.
You share new vows with another you said.
She's in your heart, your soul and in your bed.

So you jealous love birds who don't learn in time
that hearts and souls are not yours or mine
will find yourself pining inside one day
for the Love of your life, that you threw away.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
